Principal's Message

Greetings Wagon Wheel Community,

 

It is an honor to serve students and families as the newly appointed principal of Wagon Wheel Elementary School.  Over the last 18 years, I have had the privilege of serving communities as a teacher, literacy coach, assistant principal, and principal to increase student achievement and prepare students for college and career success.  As we are about to embark on a new school year, I am excited to begin this journey as a Wagon Wheel Mustang!

 

At Wagon Wheel Elementary, we believe it is essential to plan rigorous first instruction lessons, design projects that are relevant, and promote a safe environment where students, staff, and parents build positive relationships in order to increase student achievement and “Build the future; One child at a time.”  We act on this belief by engaging in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) using data to make informed decisions about instruction and providing multi-tiered levels of support.  We implement Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) into our lessons to develop 21st century learning skills – critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity – so that students can independently apply these tools across all content areas.  Additionally, we collaborate with all stakeholders by providing opportunities through on-site volunteership, School Site Council, and PTA.  As a community, I am confident that we will partner together to support the academic, personal, and social growth of all our students. 

 

I look forward to meeting all of our students and parents on the first day of school as we kick-off the 2016-2017 school year.  Go Mustangs!
