ATTENTION:

California law does not allow school districts to charge fees to students for curricular and extracurricular activities.  However, as you are aware, due to state budget cut backs, schools can no longer afford to fund many of these activities.  Therefore, we are requesting voluntary donations from parents to offset the costs of these programs.  Parents are not required to make donations and all students may participate in extracurricular activities regardless of whether their parents make a donation.  You are not required to purchase the items listed below. For additional information, please visit the CUSD link on Student Fees at:  https://capousd-ca.schoolloop.com/studentfees

Wordly Wise App--2nd and 3rd Grade- ...more

Reminders for 2nd Grade (a.k.a. The SSG's or Super Second Graders!)

  • When practicing your basic facts each night, don't forget to practice your doubles facts too.
  • Ear buds:  If you have an extra pair of ear buds your child could keep at school, that would be helpful.  There are several programs we use in the computer lab and in the classroom that are enhanced with auditory messages, instructions, etc.  In a whole class setting, the volume can't be used or must be very low.  A pair of ear buds would allow your scholar access to the auditory components of these programs.

Reminders for 3rd Graders (a.k.a. Miss Purcell's Pandas!)

  • Nightly Math Facts Practice:  It is now time to just quickly run through addition and subtraction facts a few times a week and concentrate on multiplication and division.  Students are currently focused on 5 facts as well as how to solve multiplication and division problems using several strategies prior to memorizing the facts.  This lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of the concepts.  Some strategies include:  diagrams or groups, drawing it out, equal share drawings and arrays.  I will be posting examples of these various math strategies on the website soon.
